Beside obesity, disturbances in the production of insulin by the pancreas can also give rise
to diabetes. Another cause of diabetes is severe mental or physical stress, resulting in the release of anti-insulin such
as adrenalin and nor adrenalin.
While "primary hypertension" is the most common type of high blood pressure, abnormal secretion
of hormones by the accessory suprarenal gland and thyroid gland, or renal disturbances may also bring about "secondary hypertension".
If prompt treatment is not sought, hypertension will eventually cause an excessive burden to
the heart, bringing about cardiac dysfunction, angina pectoris, cardiac Infarction, etc. It may also result in apoplexy, blockage

A group of Japanese physicians carried out a clinical research on reducing blood pressure through
the effects of Lingzhi. In their experiment, patients suffering from hypertension were asked to temporarily stop taking diuretic,
dilation agent for peripheral nerves in the brain, and metabolic cardiac stimulant, except lingzhi.
Four weeks later, only 3 out of 15 cases showed negative result. They also discovered cases for
which medications such as hypo tensors did not work, the blood pressure of the patients markedly lowered after taking lingzhi.
At the same time, the levels of neutral fats in the blood of hypertension patients also normalized after taking lingzhi, a
condition that hypo tensors could not achieve. Hence, if lingzhi is taken together with hypo tensors, they are expected to
compliment each other and benefit the patients of hyperlipemia and arteriosclerosis.
Additionally, lingzhi is also helpful in improving the conditions of headache, stiff shoulder,
paralysis, tinnitus, dizziness and various subjective symptoms.
In another experiment, scientists extracted dispersive lipocytes from the fatty tissues, to which
adrenalin was introduced. When adrenalin came into contact with the surfaces of lipocytes, lipase was activated and stored
fats were broken down, releasing large quantity of fatty acid. If insulin was simultaneously added, the process of breaking
down could be retarded, and only a small amount of fatty acid would be released.
When scientist replaced insulin with lingzhi, it was proven that the release of fatty could be
controlled. This experiment also leads to the discovery that the action of lingzhi was not actually releasing of blood sugar
